Sept 5 – Oct 24th, 2017 – Hospice Course at the College of the Rockies

Sign up at the College of the Rockies if you are interested in learning more about end of life care for personal reasons or to help with Hospice. Many topics discussed in the book “A Care Givers Guide” will be discussed at this course.

Donations July 14th-27,2017 at Ann’s Independent Grocer were put towards a patient lift system for the Hospice room.

Hospice gave away  free copies of the book “A Care Givers Guide” .

“A Care Givers Guide” will help family and informal caregivers to understand the journey of taking care of a loved one with a progressive illness.

Hospice won the Giv’Er Away Contest

“Hospice is for people who care … Give’Er prints things for people to wear. Together we make a perfect pair!!” Elk Valley Hospice has won the “Giv’Er Shirt Away” competition.
The new sky blue shirts with Hospice hearts were first worn by volunteers at the 150 Canada Day celebrations thanks to the Giv’Er Shirt Works generous gift.

Night of Indulgence Nov 2016

Elk Valley Hospice received a generous donation from the Ladies Night of Indulgence which was hosted by Ghostrider Trading Company.

Lantern Festival November 2016

The Lantern Festival organizers invited Hospice to setup a tent at lantern festival.

Hospice volunteers came together to decorate lanterns to raise funds for hospice.

It was great to see the Hospice tent full of the wonderful creations, then see them showcased in the parade and strung up in the trees on the festival grounds.

 


Carve for a Cause October 2016

14856102_10154092361168546_6739218153790789380_oElk Valley Hospice was recognized by the community as a worthy cause during the “Carve for a Cause Pumpkin” event which was spearheaded by the Fernie Real Estate Company.

This news was shared in the Fernie Free Press November 3th, 2016. (read the article online E-Editions @ thefreepress.ca/eeditions/)

 

Stephanie Rogers spent many hours carving her pumpkin and was awarded 3rd price the pumpkin was spectacular.

To add to the fun, Stephanie came up with the idea to auction of her pumpkin with half of the proceeds being donated to hospice.



Telus – “Fibre for Good” campaign 2015-2016

fibre-for-goodTelus made the donation on behalf of the residents that switched to Optik TV.

Each participating resident was asked to select a charity of choice for the Fibre for Good donation.

Telus said “This is our way to say thanks, and continue our dedication to support those organizations that make a difference in your community”.


Fernie Cardlock 2015

Did you know anyone can fill up at the Fernie Cardlock gas station?

All of September, 4 cents/litre for fuel purchased with a DEBIT CARD goes to the Elk Valley Hospice.

Fernie Brewing Company – “Cheers to Charity” 2015

Make sure to visit the Fernie Brewing Company this spring……….And while you are there make sure you try some samples.  Fernie Brewing Co. will be donating all money taken from samples served in the Tasting Room during April-June 2015 to the Elk Valley Hospice.

Community Old Time Social and Dance 2015

Squares, keepers, waltzes and maybe even polkas..join the fun…bring your party frocks! Our fantastic caller is Leslie Bauman Gotfrit from Calgary. This event will be a fundraiser for the Elk Valley Hospice.
